Help
Navigation & Layout: Kyu Launcher is split into two main sections. The left sidebar contains your Folders and special Tabs (like Watch, To-dos, and Settings). The right area displays the content of the currently selected folder or tab. Use your remote's D-Pad to navigate between items, and press the Center/OK button to select.
App Actions (Long Press): Long-pressing the Center/OK button on any app opens a context menu with the following options:
- Move in Folder: Allows you to reorder the app within the current folder using the D-Pad.
- Add to / Move to Folder: Copies or moves the app to another existing folder, or lets you create a brand new folder.
- Remove from Folder: Removes the app from the current folder. If an app is removed from all folders, it becomes "Hidden".
- Change Icon / Remove Icon: Apply a custom image from your device as the app's icon (Premium feature).
- App Info: Opens the Android system settings page for that specific app.
Folder Actions (Long Press): Long-pressing on any custom folder in the left sidebar opens a menu where you can:
- Move Up / Move Down: Rearrange the order of your folders in the sidebar. (Note: The "Home" folder cannot be moved).
- Rename: Change the name of the folder.
- Delete: Deletes the folder entirely. (The apps inside will not be uninstalled, they will just become hidden apps).
Creating New Folders: You can create a new folder by pressing the "Menu" button on your remote to bring up the Main Menu, or by long-pressing an app, selecting "Add to Folder", and choosing "New Folder".
Watch Tab: This tab displays your "Continue Watching" or "Watch Next" content from supported apps. If you want to stop a specific app from showing its content here, go to Settings > Hide Watch Cards and check the app you want to hide.
To-dos Tab: A built-in task manager. You can type out notes or to-dos using the on-screen keyboard. By toggling the "recurring" icon (arrows in a circle), a completed task will automatically uncheck itself every night at midnight, making it perfect for daily habits.
Themes & Colors: Customize the look of your launcher by going to Settings. Under "Colors", you can pick custom Primary and Secondary colors using RGB sliders. Under "Themes", you can pick from pre-made themes or upload your own Custom Image as a wallpaper (Premium feature).
Hiding Tabs & Logo: If you don't use the Watch or To-dos tabs, or if you want a cleaner look by hiding the top-left logo, you can disable them by navigating to Settings > Tabs and checking the items you want to hide.
Accessibility Service: Found under Settings > Accessibility settings. Enabling this allows Kyu Launcher to detect hardware button presses on your remote (for custom button mapping) and allows the launcher to run actions on boot. All processing happens entirely on your device, and no personal data is collected or stored.
FAQ
How do I hide an app so it doesn't show up on my screen?
To hide an app, simply long-press it and select "Remove from Folder". Once an app is not inside any of your folders, it is officially hidden. To view or unhide it later, go to Settings > Hidden Apps, select the app, and click "Unhide" to send it back to your Home folder.
How do I reorder apps inside a folder?
Long-press the app you want to move and select "Move in Folder". The app will be highlighted with a border. Use your D-Pad to slide the app to its new position, then press the Center/OK button to confirm.
How do I set a custom background wallpaper or custom app icon?
Custom wallpapers and custom app icons are Premium features. Once Premium is unlocked, you can change the wallpaper by going to Settings > Themes > Custom Image. To change an app icon, long-press the app and select "Change Icon". You can use any image saved to your TV's storage.
Why did my completed To-do item uncheck itself?
When creating a To-do item, if you clicked the "recurring" button before adding it, the launcher treats it as a daily habit. Recurring tasks automatically reset and uncheck themselves every night at midnight so they are ready for the next day.
Where are my TV inputs (HDMI, AV)?
Kyu Launcher automatically detects your TV inputs and adds them to your app list just like standard apps. They will have distinct icons (like an HDMI cable) so you can easily place them in your folders.
How do I delete a folder?
Navigate to the left sidebar, highlight the folder you want to delete, and long-press the Center/OK button. Select "Delete" from the menu. Note: You cannot delete the very first "Home" folder, and you cannot rename or move it.
Is my personal data safe if I enable the Accessibility Service?
Yes. The Accessibility Service is strictly used to intercept remote control button presses for custom launcher actions. No text is read, no personal data is collected, and it does not connect to the internet. Everything stays on your local TV storage.
